STRANGE NEWS: 'Missing' Texas Man Was Kept Hidden by His Mother for 8 Years

 

A Texas man who was reported missing as a teenager in 2015 returned home the next day but he and his mother deceived officers by giving false names over the ensuing eight years, police said Thursday. Houston police detectives said prosecutors have declined to bring false report charges against Janie Santana and her son, Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV, but that their investigation is continuing.

Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV, 25, returned home March 8, 2015, one day after he was reported missing, Lt. Christopher Zamora said in a news conference. While Houston officers had interacted since then with Farias and his mother, both provided fake names and dates of birth, misleading officers, he said. His mother “continued to deceive police by remaining adamant that Rudy was still missing,” he said.

Detectives with the Houston Police Department's missing persons unit reportedly interviewed Farias and his mother, Janie Santana, in the presence of activist Quanell X Wednesday at a hotel in Humble. The activist told reporters that Farias had been sexually abused and drugged for years. "She would ask him to play daddy, she told him that he had to be the husband," Quanell X said.

Gov. Ron DeSantis raised upward of $20 million in the first six weeks of his presidential campaign. The DeSantis campaign compared its opening quarter totals to Trump’s first quarter this election cycle, when Trump raised $14.5 million .

The announcement by the DeSantis campaign comes as former President Donald Trump’s team announced Wednesday it brought in $35 million during the second quarter, which was split between the presidential campaign and the former president’s leadership PAC.

The DeSantis campaign highlighted in a release shared first with Fox News that their haul was the "largest first-quarter filing from any non-incumbent Republican candidate in more than a decade." And they added that it "bests the $18.3 million former president and quasi-incumbent Donald Trump's campaign raised during his first two fundraising quarters as a candidate ($3.8 in Q4 2022 and $14.5 in Q1 2023)."

REPORTS: NYC Mayor Eric Adams Had Staff Print Out, Spill Coffee on Fallen Cop's Photo So He Could Pretend He's Been Carrying It for Years

 

According to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, he has carried a portrait of his fallen friend and NYPD comrade Robert Venable in his wallet for decades.

But the weathered photo of Officer Venable had not actually spent decades in the mayor’s wallet. It had been created by employees in the mayor’s office in the days after Mr. Adams claimed to have been carrying it in his wallet. The employees were instructed to create a photo of Officer Venable, according to a person familiar with the request. A picture of the officer was found on Google; it was printed in black-and-white and made to look worn as if the mayor had been carrying it for some time, including by splashing some coffee on it, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.

Mayor Eric Adams and the New York Times have gone to war over claims he lied about carrying a weathered photo of his friend and fallen NYPD comrade in his wallet for decades. The dramatic spectacle erupted Thursday when the outlet alleged that a portrait of Officer Robert Venable that Adams says he has long carried with him isn’t legit — and is instead just a printed-out Google image that was doctored to make it appear old. The mayor’s office immediately went on the defensive, furiously accusing the outlet of waging a “false attack” against him — even going as far as lining up several members of the slain officer’s family to publicly rebuke the claims.

A 65-year-old San Diego man was found dead apparently from extreme heat at Death Valley National Park in California, where his car had two flat tires and a non-functioning air conditioning system as temperatures soared into the triple digits, park officials said Wednesday.
