STRANGE NEWS: 'Missing' Texas Man Was Kept Hidden by His Mother for 8 Years

 

A Texas man who was reported missing as a teenager in 2015 returned home the next day but he and his mother deceived officers by giving false names over the ensuing eight years, police said Thursday. Houston police detectives said prosecutors have declined to bring false report charges against Janie Santana and her son, Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV, but that their investigation is continuing.

Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV, 25, returned home March 8, 2015, one day after he was reported missing, Lt. Christopher Zamora said in a news conference. While Houston officers had interacted since then with Farias and his mother, both provided fake names and dates of birth, misleading officers, he said. His mother “continued to deceive police by remaining adamant that Rudy was still missing,” he said.

Detectives with the Houston Police Department's missing persons unit reportedly interviewed Farias and his mother, Janie Santana, in the presence of activist Quanell X Wednesday at a hotel in Humble. The activist told reporters that Farias had been sexually abused and drugged for years. "She would ask him to play daddy, she told him that he had to be the husband," Quanell X said.
