At this week's meeting, the Mount Vernon Board of Estimate and Contract passed several bonds totaling over $4 million that will enable significant investments in the city's public safety.
Mayor Thomas applauded these major investments in the men and women that keep Mount Vernon safe. The investments include fleet vehicles; an upgraded, modern communications system; and body cameras.
After over twenty months of refusing to move on equipment and technology requests for the Mount Vernon Police and Fire Departments, the City Council and Comptroller Maureen Walker have finally joined Mayor Thomas in putting forth these critical initiatives.
Mayor Thomas thanks Mount Vernon's first responders for enduring the under-investment of past administrations and their commitment to working through the challenges of having to do more with less.
