The Guy who Counted for Nixon Dies

The Nixon Foundation has announced the death of Fred Malek, former personnel director in the Nixon White House.

Although Malek lived a long life active in Republican politics, he will always be remembered as the man who counted Jews in the government for Richard Nixon.

This was a byproduct of Nixon becoming angered in 1971 over a Bureau of Labor Statistics report.

Nixon as was his wont, Nixon blamed Jews for the problem and wanted to know how many worked for the BLS.

ALBANY POLITICS: Will state budget be late?

PHOTO >>> BAD BLOOD: #Yonkers Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins is objecting to  a nasty tone coming from Governor Andrew Cuomo

Governor Andrew Cuomo has been especially critical of Andrea Stewart-Cousins' leadership skills that killed Amazon’s plans to build a new second headquarters in Queens.

Democratic leaders of the Senate and Assembly, are defending their budget proposals and noting that disagreements over the details of the budget are to be expected two weeks before the deadline.

“We’re going to go forward and try to do this budget, do it on time,” said Senate Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, D-Yonkers in upstate press reports.

Governor Andrew Cuomo Cuomo argues lawmakers in the Assembly and Senate want a budget that is too bloated when compared to his $175 billion budget proposal.

Andrew Cuomo also blasted the Assembly for not including a provision in its budget recommendation that would make permanent the 2 percent property tax cap implemented in 2012.

According to Andrew Cuomo’s budget office, the Senate budget proposal would spend $3.5 billion more than his plan.

Democrats won control of the Senate in last fall’s elections after a decade of Republican rule in the chamber.

Andrew Cuomo last week criticized the Senate’s new Democratic leaders as inexperienced and said they’re putting politics over good governance.

“They have not governed, and they’re political,” Andrew Cuomo said to reporters upstate

Yonker's Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins says she spoke to Andrew Cuomo about the criticism and that she hopes the governor and lawmakers can work together.

“I question obviously why there is a constant criticism,” Andrea Stewart-Cousins said of Andrew Cuomo.

PEW RESEARCH: Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals Divided on Alcohol, But The Heathens Can Drink Them All Under The Table

Catholics and Protestants in the United States have major a difference in drinking habits, as do mainline Protestants and evangelicals.

Sixty percent of Catholics say they have consumed alcohol in the past 30 days, compared to 51 percent of Protestants who say the same.

Yet there is a divide within Protestantism: 66 percent of white mainline Protestants have consumed alcohol within the past 30 days, while 48 percent of black Protestants and 45 percent of white evangelical Protestants have done so.

By comparison, 65 percent of Americans who are unaffiliated with any religion say they’ve consumed alcohol the past month.

“The relationship between religion and alcohol consumption remains a nuanced one, and not all U.S. religious groups eschew alcohol to the same degree,” Pew’s Philip Schwadel wrote in an analysis.

White evangelical Protestants are most likely to view alcohol consumption as morally wrong, too. Twenty-three percent of them say drinking alcohol is morally wrong, compared to 13 percent of black Protestants and 7 percent of white mainline Protestants who say the same. Fifteen percent of Catholics say consuming alcohol is wrong.

“In the United States and many other countries, religiously active people are less likely to drink alcohol than those who are not as religious,” Schwadel wrote. “That may not be a surprise: Holy texts from the Christian New Testament to the Quran and the Hindu Dharmashastras warn against the dangers of excessive drinking and other potentially harmful ‘vices.’ Many religious leaders, including the late Rev. Billy Graham, have urged followers to abstain from alcohol.

The report was based on surveys conducted in 2015 and 2017.

NEW YORK TIMES: The Doomsday Prophet Who Says the Bible Predicted Trump

On a Sunday morning at Beth Israel Worship Center in Wayne, N.J., a bearded pastor named Jonathan Cahn stood on an elevated platform, gazing over a full house.

Stage lights shifted from blue to white as the backing band played a drifting melody. Two men hoisted curled rams' horns and let out long blasts.

"Some of you have been saying you want to live in biblical times," Mr. Cahn said, pacing behind a lectern.

Then he spread his hands wide. "Well, you are."

LOL.... So ... Is Donald J. Trump the anti-Christ? Could Trump be the whore of babylon?

" son of a Holocaust refugee, Mr. Cahn was raised in a nominally Jewish family in the New York suburbs. But from an early age, he was drawn to the more esoteric corners of belief.

He devoured the writings of Nostradamus, the Virginia psychic Edgar Cayce and far-out conspiracy theories about ancient astronauts.

Mr. Cahn soon stumbled on "The Late Great Planet Earth," the 1970s best-seller that argued doomsday prophecies of the Bible were playing out with events like the Cold War and Israel's Six-Day War.

Mr. Cahn bought the book thinking it was about UFOs; instead he was given a crash-course in Christian eschatology.

What he was given a crash course in was relatively modern add-ons.....

Advanced by the 19th century preacher John Nelson Darby, dispensationalism was absent from the first 1,800 years of Christian thought -- and it's come roaring back in recent decades as Hagee and his acolytes have gained more influence.

This, despite the fact that it's no longer taught in almost any mainstream seminary across the U.S. Deatherage told me he believes that the "residue" of dispensationalism still influences American foreign policy today.

Dispensationalism became fashionable again in some circles in the 1970s and again in the 2000s, thanks initially to books like Hal Lindsey's "The Late Great Planet Earth," which predicted the end of the world sometime in the 1980s, and the best-selling Left Behind series....

The theology was embraced by Christian fundamentalists such as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, and the books themselves influenced tens of millions: "The Late Great Planet Earth" was a best-seller in the 1970s, and the Left Behind series sold 80 million copies."

LOL... So, he's just another carnival barker like Falwell, Robertson, Lindsey... or Pres Two Corinthians

NOT SERIOUS ABOUT CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM: Yonkers Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins Votes For Budget Bill That Excludes Governor Andrew Cuomo's Proposal To Close As Many As Three Correctional Facilities By September 1st

PHOTO: Governor Andrew Cuomo's prison closure plan isn't included in the senate's budget bills, even though it could save 35 Million in tax dollars

QUOTE: “These new closures are another step toward reversing the era of mass incarceration and recognizing that there are more effective alternatives to lengthy imprisonment,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said in February.

UNIONS DON’T WANT IT: Yonkers Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and other democratic lawmakers don’t support Governor Andrew Cuomo’s plan to expedite the closure of up to three state prisons this year.

FORGET ABOUT IT: The One-house budget plans released by the Assembly and state Senate majorities excludes Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposal.

PROTECT UNION JOBS: The governor is seeking authority from the state Legislature to close as many as three correctional facilities by September 1st.

In his 30-day budget amendments, Governor #AndrewCuomo included the proposal to shutter up to three state prisons.

His plan would require the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to review the state’s 54 correctional facilities and determine which should close. There would be criteria the agency would consider, such as facility security level, available programs for inmates and the potential reuse of the property.

Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has boasted about closing 24 state prisons and juvenile detention centers, contends more prisons can be shuttered due to a declining inmate population.

The inmate population is now 46,973, down from 56,419 since 2011 — the governor’s first year in office.

The state Division of Budget estimates the closures could eliminate more than 1,200 beds in the prison system and save at least $35 million.

However, #AndrewCuomo’s plan faces opposition from lawmakers and unions representing correctional officers.

One of the unions, the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, slammed the proposal. The labor group believes it would lead to overcrowding in prisons and create dangerous conditions for staff.

The governor and state legislative leaders are aiming to finalize a new state budget by March 31.

Chelsea Manning Is Jailed for Refusing to Testify in WikiLeaks Case

Chelsea Manning, the former Army intelligence analyst who provided archives of secret military documents to WikiLeaks in 2010, was taken into custody on Friday after a federal judge found her in contempt for refusing to testify before a grand jury that is investigating the antisecrecy group.

LOL... Just asking for a friend.....

Just so I can adjust my scorecard, is Chelsea Manning back to being a hero to the Left for leaking to Wikileaks and helping Russia, does she remain on the "we don't want to talk about her, whatabout Trump" shhtlist for leaking to Wikileaks and helping Russia?
