NEW YORK STATE: Cuomo blasts Trump administration, Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh

YONKERS – Governor Andrew Cuomo rallied his fellow Democratic public officials in Westchester County on Tuesday to criticize President Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
The governor vowed to take action to defend New York’s “progressive values against the extreme conservative agenda of the Trump Administration.”
With a threat of a federal reversal of Roe v. Wade, Cuomo called on state lawmakers to codify those protections into state law.
“I call on every Senate Republican to come back to Albany; do it tomorrow,” the governor said. “The Assembly will support codification of Roe v. Wade. I will sign the bill. The Senate Democrats will vote 100 percent in favor of it. Come back and pass Roe v. Wade for New York. There are no excuses.”

The governor, meanwhile, signed an executive order while in Yonkers ensuring that women in New York who are insured through individual, small group, and large group comprehensive health insurance policies as well as Medicaid receive insurance coverage without cost-sharing for contraceptive services.
