WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY: Yonkers man accepts new plea deal in crash-related death

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man was sentenced to from three to nine years in state prison for the fatal 2017 crash that claimed the life of one of his passengers.
Westchester District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. said Renzo Yance was sentenced to two to six years in prison on his guilty plea to manslaughter in the death of Nina Cordero, 19, and from one to three years in prison for aggravated unlicensed operation.

The sentences will run consecutively.
On August 26, 2017, Yance was driving on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers recklessly at approximately 100 miles per hour when the car overturned ejecting the victim.
On August 6, 2017, he had been charged with driving without a license and under the influence of drugs in Dobbs Ferry.
In court on Tuesday, Edwin Cordero, Nina Cordero’s father, gave a victim’s impact statement, saying in part that, “I never felt hatred but there is no peace, forgiveness or mercy in me. You have to find it from God. But it will never come from me or my family.”
