NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library will conduct their monthly Big Book Sale on Friday, October 6th and Saturday, October 7th, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, in the Library’s Lobby and in the Friends’ new Bookstore. The public may select from a wide range of hardcover and paperback books, CDs, dvds, and more, when the Friends of NRPL’s conduct their monthly Big Book Sale.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, October 12th, from 12:00 noon – 5:00 pm, in the library’s meeting room and theater stage. 
Eligible blood and platelet donors of all types are needed now. NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Three student musicians from New Rochelle High School have been chosen to perform in the All-State Conference of the New York State School Music Association in late November.
Cellist Taz Kim, soprano I Annael Alvarez and tenor II David Rubertone were among 900 students statewide chosen to perform at the music festival in Rochester. They were among more than 6,500 students who auditioned with solos last year as sophomores and juniors. Each young musician chosen was also recommended by a teacher.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A band of about 20 Albert Leonard Middle School students swept through Five Islands Park on Echo Bay for International Coastal Cleanup Day, picking the beaches and rocky crags clean of bottles, countless cigarette butts, fishing line, and even the rusted base of a blender. NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Five New Rochelle High School seniors have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, which honors top academic achievement.
Zoey Deutsch, Elijah Pomerantz, Randall St. Louis, Taylan Selman and Andrew Sorota were among approximately 16,000 students across the country named in the 63rd annual competition. The semifinalists represent less than 1 percent of the high school seniors across the country.

New York State Police

NEW YORK, NY -- On September 22, 2017, at approximately 2:11 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 33, in the Town of Cheektowaga for a speeding violation.  The driver of the vehicle, Joseph J. Lops, age 49, of Williamsville, NY, was found to be intoxicated.  He was transported and processed at SP Buffalo, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.21%.  Additionally, he has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and as a result was subsequently charged with:
